There is a temp sensor in the top of the heater core too. Trapped air in the heater core may cause this to read cold and prevent the blower assembly from routing air through the heater core.

So mom2ag, do you have heat now? If not did you check the HCV as I suggested earlier? As I said, that's the most common reason for losing you heater.
