I think I can help sort this out, but I don't have any pics to show right now.
First, the vacuum line coming off your intake boot connects to that vacant port on the power steering pump. Make sure the other line on the power steering pump connects to a metal line a few inches from it (towards the timing cover), and that the metal line connects to the vacuum pipes under the intake manifold via another short rubber hose.
The part on your thermostat housing with 2 vacuum lines is called the "bi-metallic vacuum solenoid valve", or BVSV; these are almost always broken, so congrats on having one that's still intact! One of the nipples (doesn't matter which) should have a vacuum line going to the throttle body, before the throttle valve. The other nipple should have a line connected to the metal pipe on the air flow meter, and then another line from that pipe to the charcoal canister by the firewall. Connecting it to the air flow meter is not required, but it does help to keep the line away from the exhaust heat and tidies up the engine bay a little.
