The starter is a bitch to replace. Try hitting the starter with something. I've had this same problem. It seems to get stuck sometimes. But I kno the starter is hard because i've replaced it twice. The same stick i have to hold up the hatch of my car also doubles as a starter beater when it doesnt start. Good stuff. Good luck with it.

I hate those shock strut things that hold the hood, hatch. anyways maybe starter is loose? used to make my strait 6 amc javelin do that
