I have recently found a 1993.5 Supra, non-turbo, 5-speed, and wanted to know if you guys could help me out. I was wondering when I go for the test drive what I should be looking for? Mechanically what I should be looking for? What questions should I be asking besides the basics?

From the pictures he has sent the car is somewhat moded but mostly exteriorally, intake and exhaust. Also what price should I be expecting?

Thanks in advance for any information you guys can give me.
i greatly appreciate it...
I'm not an expert on non-turbo Mkiv's but I'll pass along what little I know. First of all, I'd suggest you look at this page:
http://www.mkiv.com/buy_a_supra/index.html
...it contains links to a few pricing services that may help to get you ballpark market value. I do know that, without a mileage figure, it's almost impossible to give you an expected price.

I've heard that the non-turbo's market price is somewhat over-inflated...given that it has many lower-performace features when compared with the Mkiv TT: brake calipers, tranny, diff, shortblock, head, rims, abs, ignition, etc. are all higher-end in the Mkiv TT (not to mention of course, the turbos, the intercooler, larger injectors and other turbo-specific features). I've heard of equivalent year-and-miles non-turbo mkivs going for only a few thousand less than a comparable Mkiv turbo...and to get a non-turbo up to full Mkiv Turbo specs would cost many times more than that difference. For example, if a '94 Mkiv Turbo with 140K miles sold for $17K, I've heard of '94 non-Turbo with similar miles going for $13K or even more...especially if it's been modified/upgraded and well-maintained.

Regardless of the purchase price, I'd strongly advise you to have Toyota check it out for you before you purchase...I believe they offer that service for a reasonable fee.

...and lastly, here are a few 'faq's on the non-turbo mkiv:

I hope that some other members will pass along any other information they might have about evaluating & buying a non-turbo (n/a, or "normally aspirated") Mkiv...

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.
