No the reason we think this bull crap about the bhg is because Toyota's factory head torque specs are too low causing the head bolts to stretch therefore blowing the head gasket. They don't actually "blow" they leak. Coolant just goes under/over the gasket to the nearest opening, usually the cylinder, sometimes the oil passage.
I never ran my engine without coolant in it and the gasket still went. I was actually anal about the coolant level, checking it everyday, every single day. We should start calling it BHB for blown head bolts because that is why the head gasket "fails" to seal anymore.
It's a known fact that the factory torque specs for the head bolts are too low. If your factory head gasket hasn't failed yet, oh don't you worry it will. It's not if, its when.
