I have a JZX100 Mark II, of course it has the 1JZ-GTE VVti engine.
It's great, smooth power, strong, fast, bla bla bla.
But, parts for it are expensive. Hardly anything from the old 1JZ/2JZ engines are the same. It uses different cams, intake manifold, turbo, exhaust manifold, dump pipe, etc.
It's a pain in the ass for finding parts compared to the older non-vvti 1JZ/2JZ. See everyone on the internet (english speaking) that sell parts for the 1JZ don't identify the parts for which 1JZ it is. Until last month, you CAN NOT find an exhaust manifold for the VVTi version for less then $1300. Tomei just released a stainless manifold that works with stock turbo for $700. Thats a great price and good news, so Im buying it straight away! Not ONE person in the US makes/sells an exhaust manifold for the 1JZ-GTE VVti engine. No matter what they say, you have to demand photos of the actual product and thats when you prove them wrong. See, the VVti and non VVti manifolds are different. The runners are spaced evenly apart on the older non vvti engines, but for the new generation VVTi 1JZ, the #1 and #2 runners are together, and same for #5 and #6.

Thats just a glimpse into the headache of owning one if you were in the states. I'm in Japan and its even hard for me. Everything is expensive for it since it's new and only ballers own them here so far.

My advice, stick with the older 1JZ/2JZ, parts galore!!!
