The biggest problem when replacing valve guide seals is figuring out how to hold the valves in place when removing the keeper and spring. If the cylinder head is installed on the engine you will need to use compressed air with the cylinder at TDC that you are working on. Its a very complicated procedure best left to a professional. If you mess up on your calculations when spinning the crank, you will drop a valve into the cylinder and you will be forced to remove the cylinder head. If the cylinder head is off of the car, its much easier and there is no real chance for error.
