I just found this forum last night and spent almost 5 hours reading all the great info here. Anyway, I have an 89 turbo mk3 that has an odd problem when starting the engine after the car's been warmed up. I've seen it documented on a couple threads here, but nobody had a conclusive answer.
Here goes: If I drive for a 1/2 hour or so, stop at a convenience store and shut off engine, when I come back a minute later and start it it idles around 500 rpm or so, fluctuates a bit, and sometimes(about 50% of the time) stalls out. If I put the car into gear and begin driving, the idle problem seems to disappear. It doesn't do this on cold starts--it only happens when the engine is warm. I saw all kinds of suggestions in the other threads, spark plugs/wires/distributor...there's a lot of suggestions, but it seemed that none of them worked for the people that were experiencing the same problem I am. Anyone know what causes this and are there any fixes for it?
Thanks!
Trevor
