You set the head on the guide pins on the block.
You drop in the washers...., you will see there is a groove cut just for them.
Then you molly everything and start inserting studs.

Nothing funky about it. No wierd trash about the studs unless you order them that way. And I'm not sure you can.

Everything will be more clear when you can actually eye ball your new parts.

So long as you take your time and think before you work.
These engines are great to work on and once you know how. The starter is still a pain in the a$$.
