on a side note a mechanic once told me too that my turbos wastegate was stuck open.... And i needed a new turbo, so i pulled it off and sent it in for a rebuild + upgrade... while i was inspecting the turbo i pulled off i came to realize it was in perfect working condition wastegate was fine/ little to no shaft play....
Spent 700 bucks on a rebuild for no reason, at least i decided to upgrade the turbine wheel so it wasnt a compelte waste....
Then i started to research and read. Swore id never pay another mechanic again lol
had to recently thought i was outa freon AC wouldnt work.... 168 dollars later the mechanic plugd in one wire.... Should of fixed myself i just assumed it was the freon ;(.... That was a mistake lol
Anyways after taking it to toyota.... and several shops... having toyota tell me they had no idea how to fix there car ( yes after flipping the bill on several things that where not the problem) And other places telling me i needed a new turbo....
You know what the problem was? a 30$ fix.. my knock sensor wiring was bad... that was it.... So thanks to this forum and other sources i was able (no i am not a mechanic or a electrician) to wire it up and Supra runs perfect....
You know who told me what was wrong with my car? She did. +1 to toyota for making a vehicle w/ a way to self diagnois w/o extra electronics.
