With the amount of things you keep posting about being disconnected (including coolant hoses ) are you positive you should be starting the car at all at this point?

When you installed the distributoe and timing belt did you make sure EVERYTHING was set to their 0? timing marker? It is possibly to put in the distributor with the rotor off by 180?. If everything else is at 0? the rotor should be in position to fire cyl 1.
