If you think you have rod knock.
Then you probably do. If you don't, you still have serious issues.

Part it out or rebuild it. Entirely. Buy a different engine and rebuild it.

There is no minimal fix for what you probably have.

UNLESS: You locate the knocking and where it's coming from and verify that it's not rod knock.

It could be piston slap...., which "maybe"...., you can get buy with 1 new one but I doubt it. I don't see a 0 mile piston fitting well into a 15 + year old cylinder and having an extended life expectantcy.

Without a complete rebuild. You can monkey with the top end and make things happen.

But the bottom is the factory. Any issue there is not a good one.
