dont bother with the MHG. You need to remove the engine and get it done professionally for a good seal. Get the head machined and clean the block surface well, no need to lap it, just get a real strait-edge and make sure its flat. I reccomend you get a full head gasket set, because most of the gaskets you remove are going to be very old and broken, so you need new ones. Try to find a "Stone" gasket set, ask your machine shop if they have that.
First off though, make sure you actually have a BHG before you go doing all this. Is there any smoke? Is there any coolant in the oil/oilin the coolant?
