kinda late to reply, but a used getrag from a MkIV is around $3k and a new one from the dealer is double that. They are non-servicable (no rebuilds), but are damn near bomb proof as long as you don't miss a shift.
It seems like the R154's are beefed up versions of the R150 trannys used in the later model trucks. I'd have to do more research, but if you can't track down a toyota tranny, I know you can get adapters to fit other trannys...
