First question of many. I'm planning to transplant a 2jz into a MKII supra, and looking to turbo charge it at the same time. the main issue with the racing regulations is that i can use any turbo i want as long as its a single setup and is fitted with a 32mm diameter turbo inlet restrictor. Assuming a fully built race engine, what sort of power would i get with a restrictor fitted?

Note that daily driveability is not needed as it is only a closed circuit race car setup being built.

Thanks
Wow - great question! Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea... :P If it helps, the oem maf is only about 64mm, and more than 700rwhp is possible through it. If I were to >>>guess<<< I'd start by comparing the approximate 3216 cm2 area of the oem maf with the approximate 804 cm2 area of your restrictor...which works out to about 25%*. Without nitrous or a highly oxygenated fuel, I'd guess/estimate that producing more than 250rwhp using that restrictor plate would be very difficult, if not impossible.

* Disclaimer: I realize the actual restrictor plate calcs are much more complex than this...if anyone else on the forum has these formulas handy, please post!

About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information?
