Hi, I own a '89 Supra n/t and the question I have is in regards to its rough shifting. When shifting into every gear, there is a "knocking" noise as if something is not working properly. If I shift very slowly and carefully, I can time it well enough so the "knocking" sound won't happen. This has not yet limited its driving ability, but something must be wrong. My automotive knowledge is rather limited, and I speculate the cause of the problem could be the transmission, clutch, or differential.
Can anyone shed some light on what may be going on here? Or, are there definitive ways to test the working ability of these three things so I can pinpoint the problem, or at least rule out possibilities?
Thanks in advance!
James
