I've got personal first-hand experience with the Haltech E6K and the AEM Gen1 on my Mkiv. Out of the two, the AEM wins the comparison easily. In fact, it's almost a no contest because the AEM comes in an mkiv-specific version, with plug-and-play to the oem wiring harness. The Haltech is more of a race-only ecu (like Motec). The AEM has many street-oriented features.
