also i am doing a tt swap. hints thats why i want to upgrade the brakes. i want to know what ecu i would need to get if i wanted to us the 2jzgte emgine with the r154 tranny. are all of the manual ecu (like the one that comes with the manual 6 speed tt supras) the same? would it just be better to by the complete set up instead of buying everything separate? there is a shop not to far from me that said they can get me a gte motor with the r154 set up for 3200. what would you suggest. any help is appriciated. thxs
Actually, the primary reason that the Mkiv TT brakes are far superior to the n/a's is the calipers. The Mkiv TT has large, quad-piston calipers on the front (and a brake master cylinder big enough to supply fluid to those calipers). The n/a only has two-piston Camry-sized calipers. Getting your calipers and master cylinder upgraded are the first steps, to me.

Your next step would be to install the actuator - which is a control valve which allows the ecu to control the amount of braking force applied to each wheel, independently. The mkiv abs ecu can't do its job unless it has this actuator. You'll need to run several new brake (fluid) lines to make this work.

After that you can worry about the ecu and sensors you'd need (including the lateral acceleration sensor)...

Here's more on the braking system. I promise you it's worth the time to read the pages you find at these links:

Sorry I have to say this: The simple way to fix this all is to get rid of your n/a and save up for an Mkiv TT. If you want to end up with a full Mkiv TT, that's the cheapest and easiest plan...really!

About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information?
