They weren't so bad when the parts were all new... but aging contacts screwed to the back of lock cylinders and magnetic reed switches for sensors which loosen from their mounts over time tend to make the system a source of contention for many people. The worn out switch on the driver's side lock cylinder is the cause of 95% of alarm related problems.. replace the switch and the owner's happy for another 15 years.
