If twist is an issue and it's not a hard top welding in an X brace under the targa top (to essentially make it a extra rigid T-top) and adding more bracing underneath the car in the center may help significantly.

I think you are right CRE, Hit the nail on the head!
car is a hardtop, with a full cage welded in so I doubt if I'm getting much flexing, so I'm not sure strut bars would help us alot (willing to give it a try)
. i am sure bigger sway bars and poly bushings would help quite a bit. anyone have a source for the polybushings - and maybe a beefier sway bar?
