A 1JZ swap does not cost as much as a 7M-GTE and requires a good amount more patience and labor.
Personally I HIGHLY recommend that the novice avoid swaps altogether and just save until they can start with the desired platform. Save up another $500, buy a GTE and start upgrading from there. The 7M-GE is not built for forced induction (especially not a lot of it) and the electronics can't take it at all. You're looking at spending a grand just to get it close to on par with a stock GTE (reliably).
As for JDM engines, used is used.... rebuild anything before you put it in or you're just wasting time.
