$850 good price for MHG job?

I called a shop here in town called Final Stage Motorsports, they quoted me $850 for a HKS 1.2mm MHG with ARP studs. So if I did it my self the cost for parts would be:

HKS MGH = $100
ARP Studs = $120
Lapping job on head = ~$150

So about ~$370 to do it myself vs the shops $850

Not to mention I've never done anything like this before, but if I pay a shop to do this I don't really learn anything.
