overheating problems on new motor
Posted 08-10-2009 at 10:32 PM by billy
Just wondering if any one could offer some advice. My car's temp gauge suddenly climbed to the 3/4 area with in a few seconds after driving for an hour with no problems at all and it seemed to drop back to regular temp as fast. I did notice a small coolant leak coming from the firewall. Would appreciate any ideas, Thanks

I would say fix that leak first a lot of times these things over heat from the water pump being faulty the one of the things I did on my supra that shocked me was when I put the K&N intake system it stoped overheating. But if I were you check to see if your oil is murky white color or a really black color if so your blew your head gasket. To Make sure get a compression test and change out the pump and therm. If that doesn't work try burping your car and change the fuel filter. Theres about a million things that can cause your car to overheat good luck on trouble shooting.
