Waz up fellow enthusiasts. I just got a 1987 Supra with a 7mge. I want to build it to a car that has more than 400whp. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no experience in rebuilding cars. This wil be my first project car. I want to keep the original engine as i've read many posts about it's awesome ability to produce huge powere with the right parts. I'm not really familiar with Supras but i want it to be a driveable car that will out corner and blow the doors off many cars that go against it.

to tell you the truth you dont have to do much. i had the same engine in my 89 supra. all i did was put in a Dynomax catback system and bored it out.ahh pretty much decent inexpensive upgrades and i was able to get out about 478hp, i was able to beat corvettes!

Where would you recommend starting? I want to do the suspension, engine, and transmission. Do you recommend any upgrades to either?

well you might not have work on suspension unless you want to spend some money on that but i would advise you to start on engine try getting it bored out $2500...headers,exhaust, maybe throw in a cold air intake system ,run about $150 should boost you up too maybe 350-400, depending on the condition of the engine

It isn't a turbo engine. If that's what you are thinking. I don't think the non-turbo engine will put out these numbers. Or will it?

the turbo motors only produce 30 more horsepower if you dont want to go as far as boring it out get new cams, valve springs and retainer, and a full exhaust, then take it to a shop to get it tuned in with the fuel or get a fuel pressure regulator, injectors and a 255 fuel pump and set it up so it doesnt idle rough.
