well, one speaker is replaced haha. got 4 4" for 30 bucks, yay for sales. unfortunately my dad kinda broke the power lock mechanism, the little box where the white stub on the back of the button now has 3 sides, and the two metal clips that hold the lock moulding into place have to be superglued on because the bent pieces at the end got snapped. other than that, it sounds nice :-D the other one is gonna be a piece of cake...then come the back ones.

where are the back ones anyways, and how do you get to them to replace them?

dont worry about it too much. xplod speakers are nothing great. there is a reason why there called Xplodes. You can always buy 2 6x9 boxes and put those in your trunk area. and fold down you rear seats.

what i want to know is how to get to the front speakers with out breaking anything.... other than taking off the whole door panel? do you just pop off that cover, when i start prying on it, it feels like its going to break. any info helps guys, actually i have to take it off anyways to replace that thing that stops my door from flying into another car when i open it, but for future reference is there an easier way. thanks in advance.

Cool victory..

i have installed all of my speakers an amazing hour an a half to install all 6 not as hard as i thought.. quite simple honestly i also did some other little interior tinkering so she looks cleaner also had to replace a bunch of parts that broke due to age from my tune up she deserved [ i had oil in my spark plug bay]
basically i rebuilt the entire top in took about two weeks doing everything by myself.. it was well worth it because now i can say shes lightly modified

The hatch area speakers are 4.25", the backseat shoulder speakers are 3.5". Neither of these changed at any point in the MKIII production except that the pre89 MKIII's did not have the back seat shoulder speakers.

Door speakers are 4" for 86.5 through '90. '91, '92 and '93 are 6.5".
