MKIII Speaker Installation
So I go to switch out my rear speakers with some polks and notice that I have 4 rear speakers. So is the rear audio spliced between both pairs?
I was switching the speakers because I have no bass whatsoever coming out of the rear. If I remove the middle set of speakers could the very rear speakers (the new ones I just purchased) work better? |
You have to 'move' air to have bass.
What I did was remove the cover on the rear speakers on both left & right sides. I removed the easiest speaker, and then soldered speaker wire to each, then replaced them back into position. With the long speaker wires on each side, I now had options for ADDING speakers. I opted for some of those cheap 300watt multi speaker cabinets (grey carpeted)from Pepboys, Kragen, Walmart, etc. 12", 8", 6", with tweeters. My 200 watt CD player drives them pretty good, enough for me. I listen to the latest country/rock, old rock (ozzy, stones, zeplin, the boss, etc, etc), and reggae (marley, UB40, yellowman, etc, etc). For rap and heavy hip-hop, you will want to run thru an amp first. |
If you want a little bass, youd be better of with some component speakers and a small amp to power them. Youll be able to make them sound a little better and louder.

forget those coaxials. get a component system if you want a little bass.
|
and a decent head unit should come before anything. stock head units are never very good.
