Hi all,
Just need some quick advice, I have seen on some websites supras that have a different heater control panel to mine, my one is the standard thing ( slide the knob along to get more heat lol ). The ones i have seen do look exactly the same size/shape etc but have a small digital disply and are push button adjustable. The 2 questions i have are these lol 1. Can the digital style controls easily be put in a mk3 with normal controls 2. Does anyone know what particular supras i can find these on. Thanks again |
LOL
i've been thinking the exact same thing jdm supras get the boring slide ones but the usdm spec ones get the fancy digital ones i'll check it out and see if it'll work ;) |
it depends on the year of your car the 86.5 and up has the digital push ones but if you really want a nice one youll want to go with the 89- 92 model its so much sleaker

hey,
Unfortunatley I think you have to replace the whole HVAC unit to automatic climate control to use the digital unit. There is a sensor in the middle of the dash that will detect the heat close to the window. When in auto mode it will automatically adjust blower and fan speeds to heat up to that specified temp. When desired temp. is reached it will slow the fans right down and maintain that temp. You may be able to hook the unit up as long as the harness and prongs are the same, but you won't be able to use the automatic mode unless you have the sensor and wiring for it. |
i have the 88 non turbo and even without the digital controls it still has automic controls so i would assume this function would still work the same
|
my 85s had slider controls and the auto feature. my 89 has digital pushbutton auto features. are you sure they are supras?
|
am i sure what is a supra, My car ?. Last i looked it was lol
As you have just said yourself your 85 had slider controls AND the suto feature and as thats the bit we were talking about then whats the arguement lol |
oh, i mis-read. i didnt know that some supras didnt come with digital controls (87-93s). id figure they'd still work. one just uses an electrical signal to switch between the vaccum lines in the back.

yeah i hoping if i can finally find one of the digital controls that i should just be able to plug the thing in but i'll never know if i cant find one lol
|
have you tried junk/salvage yards?
|
yeah i'm in the uk and around here the supra is a rare find in a salvage yard but i still have my fingers crossed lol

EBAY.COM
amazing what you'll find :P i've seen the heater controls on there a few times apparently converting from our heater controls to the digital ones is possible but one hell of a wiring nightmare lol |
