Maaco Paint Job?
My cars paint is fine, no rust or chipping really, but its faded on the front bumper and I wanted to get a new coat or few to revive the color. I know Maaco does a cheap paint job for like 200, not sure how many coats or what grade the paint is, but for only $200 seems worth it either way. I know a friend who got a paint job by them and it looked great, only the door james, under the hood, etc werent painted, the hard to get areas. But if im painting it the same color it shouldnt really stand out.
Anyone have any suggestions? |
if you ask me maaco sucks... paint work is one of those things that you get what you pay for...

My friend took his car to maaco but he provided them with paint sandpaper and primer, And it came out really nice. It still cost the same(375 i think?), but they did a much better job than we could have in the driveway. Mostly because they have a spray booth, oven, And no bugs flying around to stick in the paint.

Just like the other person mentioned, you get what you pay for. Concidering the paint job on the car, set's how the car is viewed as a whole, I would opt to get the best possible paint job, even if it will range between $1,500.00-$ 4,000.00
also, I like to think of it as an investment, because I'm maintaining an excellent, great looking car, that alot of people admire. And IT's PAID FOR!!! lol Even if i get the $4,000.00 paint job, I dont have a remaining balance of lets say...11 or $12,000 dollar balance for a remaining 3+ years before its paid-off. For $200, they'll paint over ur exhaust and window trim and they'll orange peel the shit out of it. I've seen it enough times to know. My friend has one on his mustang. It looked good for about 3 months. Now it looks like a very faded red. It's almost pink now. A paint job is not something to go cheap on. It's a quick cheap satisfaction, but you'll be disappointed in the long run. I'm paying around $4,000 to get a body kit put on, fix a few dents, and change the color from red to black. Door jambs, underside of the hood, inside the engine bay, etc...

Thats an expensive paint job lol. If you do it yourself, 90% of the paint jobs final look is preparation. Bondo/body work, Tracer coating/more bondo, Wet sanding, Re priming, Wet sanding more....Making sure every little imperfection is filled in, And making sure the paint has a good base to stick to. Then you just have to worry about not getting shit on the paint when you paint it. That is a pain in the ass to fix. Bugs are such a pain in the ass! But yes take it to a body shop and see how much they will charge. Should be like 3k if they do it all right. Paint is a lot of god dam work. lol. I helped my uncle for a few weeks, he owns a paint shop, So i learned all that crap, And the hard way most of the time.

Its $4000 because I want them to do it perfectly. Black shows every imperfection. So they are gonna get all the tiny imperfections on it and smooth them out. Believe me, there are a lot of tiny dents u dont see that will show up on black. It's unbelievable. So I don't mind paying that much. I don't know how to paint anyway. I've tried my hand at body work but its too much of a pain in the ass to get into. I'll stick with the mechanical stuff. The paint job/body work is the last thing on the list to do, being that it is the most expensive. So it'll be one hell of a sleeper until it gets painted.

sounds fairly cheap!

If you need any bodywork done do not go there. Only go there if your lookinf for an OK paintjob and your body is perfect cause they don't know how to do bodywork at all.
