upgrades?????
So I am going to be rebuilding my supra in a few months and I want to know if it is possible to swap in the 7m crank into my 5m block. I want to stroke the engine and bore it over. I am looking at giving it some extra power without turbo. If the 7m will not work then is there anything I can do to give it more torque and increase the CID in addition to boreing and cam profileing.

What year 5M block do you have?
You can only install the 7M crankshaft into a later model 5M block (85/86) because of the #1 main (later blocks have a wider #1 main, early blocks are thinner and the 7M crank won't work) You'll also need to use the 7MGE/GTE connecting rods and oil pump driveshaft. That would effectively make it a 6MGE. If you use the domed style pistons, oversized .030" over with intake and exhaust, you'll be looking at around 170hp and 180ft/lbs to the wheels. You can get the pistons here: RabidChimp.com - Second Generation Supra Engine Repair and Mainenance I would look into getting the .030" piston rings elsewhere, as RC only has the chrome ones available and they are a ridiculous price right now. Or you could just go .020" over, bc he has those style rings for $96. Check supramania.com for a crank, rods & op driveshaft |
