Hello, Another Newbie asking the same questions!!
Hello,
My name is Steve and im searching for an 84-85 supra... I know exactly what im looking for but all the cars im finding have over 150k miles on them... some are over 200k. I know anything can happen to a car this old with high mileage but im wondering "what can i expect? what will most likely go south?" I am going for bone stock with a 5 speed, full options and red interior.... the exterior will be painted black. I have always been into 4x4s but i live in the city now so i figure its the time to have some fun with a street car. Im not buying the first one i find so it may be a few months before i find the one im comfortable with but i need to do it soon because right now my girlfriend is ok with it... i know that wont last too long! ha ha! Thanks , Steve |

I'm not terribly familiar with the weak points of the MKII. I'm going to move this thread to the MKII section where, hopefully, some of our more knowledgeable MKII owners will see it and chime in.
Good luck with it!

Most the things you will find wrong with most MKII's is the clutch, brakes, fuel filter, headgasket and of coarse RUST..Lots of rust.. You will be pretty hard pressed to find a MKII under 100k miles.. If you do be prepared to spend atleast 8-14k depending on options and how well it was taken care of.. Most people who have a pristine MKII know what it is and love them very much and as with most cars price is all subjective to the person.. i only paid 1000 for mine and got a new crate motor with it but the rearf diff was blown.. I just blew my 4th motor in mine in 6 years.. Along with 2 trannys,2 d-shafts,2 diffs and countless tires..Not like i treat her very good..lol I beat on her and drive it like i stole it all the time almost.. I am currently going to put in a more reliable, durable and cheaper to build for power or in general parts price and availability.. HeHe 450hp Chevy small block here i come..
