Default battery wont hold charge

ok this is just dumb.

i left my lights on in my 1984 toyota celica supra 5m-ge and i got a friend to jump it the next day. i let him put the cables on his truck and did not watch him. when i went to put them on mine i got lots of sparks...

i look and hes got his cables backwards....

charged the battery for a bit went for a drive and my head lights dont work, and my alternator is not charging the battery... so im assuming that it broke my alt. but what else can happen if some one hooks the cables up backwards...

i feel dumb for letting someone else do somthin like that on my car so no opinions plz.

Default

I'm not sure, but don't the 5M harnesses have some sort of fusible link for the alternator that could have blown?

Also, you can check your voltage output at the alternator to verify if it is or is not producing power. Grab a voltmeter and connect the + lead to the + lug on the alternator, and the - lead to ground.
