Default Wiper motor in reverse

I have a 82 mk2 and the wipers are backwards.when you turn wipers off they are in middle of windshield.i have tried pushing them down and they go right back up

You need to pull them OFF and put them back on in the right orientation. Just pushing them down won't do anything but strip the cogs in the arm and on the spindle... if you've already done that you'll be replacing some parts.

I have done that to.and with wiper arms off and you shut them off they stop in the up position,then wen you turn them on they go down instead of up.could this be the wiper motor?my wife has allways liked the supras and i found her one with this flaw.everything else works perfect. Thanks
