Resurrection
Well, im 17 and i just pulled my first car out the garage. It is a 1984 toyota supra MKII. My Dad is the only previous owner and it has 157,000 miles. I got the car through my parents divorce. The car originally only had 25,000 miles on it, but my dad gave it to my mother so she would have something to drive till she could get her own car. First she ground the gears up in the tranny, but dad fixed that (he is a mechanic), so then she drove it till the break booster went on it, then she parked the car in the garage and bought a BMW. kinda messed up that she could afford that and couldnt just get the car fixed, but since then ive replaced the break booster and got the car back in running condition. me and dad went over the car to see what needs to be done to get it back in near perfect condition, but its hard to find the parts for it. It has a 5M-GE and a 5-speed manual tranny and it came stock with a Limited Slip Diff, but the seal began leaking and she kept driving it so now the diff whines. So far we have realized it needs a new tranny, rear end, and basically it could use and engine swap, so i was thinking of getting them off newer cars if they would fit, I know a 5M to 7M is common for these cars, but Ive also seen a 2JZ swap. we havent decided what we are doing engine wise yet, but its probably going to be one of those 2 choices. I dont know what i can do about a tranny swap, but if its possible i want a 6 speed, but its not a big deal, and i need to find a new rear end for the car. basically i want to redo the car with upgraded parts and make it something amazing.

I'm sure it will require far more fabrication and money to put in a 2jz with the 6spd than it would be to put in a 7m motor which is from the same series as the 5m is.

Iight, thats probably what ill do then, but will the tranny from a MK3 fit on an MK2, cause my 3rd gear apparently pops out of gear when my father drives the car, but it never pops out of gear with me

the none turbo 7m tranny is exactly the same as the 5m tranny there both a w58, buti think the mk3 one is slightly longer
turbo versions of the mk3 have a difrant tranny, should fit fine ive been told.
