Default 85 Supra intermitent loss of power while driving

This started happening for 2 seconds at a time and now I loose power completly but engine is still running. When I try to accelerate it dies. If I put in neutral it revs a bit rough but does not go off.

If I let it sit for about 3 hours I can start it with no problems at all. So it is random.

Can anyone help with suggestions?

Thanks

Default No engine light comes on - Did not pull codes

I did not try to get codes as there was no engine light on the dash when it happens.

I am going to try and put a new fuel filter as it's been a couple of years.

Do you think it can be the ECU as it is random?

Thanks for the advice

Agreed---fuel filter. Still runs but no power. Barely getting enough gas. Happens after you drive it a bit and gets worse over time. Not fun to change.

Default Where is the Data Link Connector for 85 Supra

I have taken my Supra from Canada to Australia and had to convert
from left to RIGHT Hand drive. The wiring and firewall had to be reversed.

So it is not original and I cannot locate where to plug in the code reader.

Also I have an OBD2 Reader will this be compatible?
How many pins should the connection have (male or female)?

Can anyone tell me where it is located on the original Canadian model?
Is it a fixed connection on a bracket or a loose cable?

Thanks guys

Default Check fuel pump flow rate

Had the same problem. Got the fuel filter off and decided to test flow BEFORE the filter. With the fuel test lead jumped and the key on the pump should be able to produce just under a gallon of fuel in one minute. Mine was doing less than a half gallon. Found my pump screen in the tank to be clogged. Cleaned scale from tank and replaced screen and happy days are back!
