Default MKII OEM Security System Removal

Do not know if it is the same, but on my 85 I was having trouble too. Felt silly goin down the road with the lights flashing! Found a little box below the rear passenger side armrest tucked way down in there that said "security warning" on it. Unplugged it and viola! no more flashing lights and no side effects so far!

Props for posting in a 6 year old thread. I'm sure this has since been covered.... and the MKIII system is more sophisticated.

I didn't know there even was a factory alarm on the MKII... Toyota's smarter than that and wouldn't put it in the open... possibly a dealer add-on (and poorly installed if the car worked fine with it just pulled out).

Signed up to the forum mostly JUST to post to this old thread because I could not find the answer out there and had to figure it out on my own. Just trying to help out. The small box I referred to is not in the open. You have to remove the driver's side rear passenger armrest and really get down low between the inner and outer sheet metal to access it. It is stamped with TOYOTA, and has a part number below that.

Relax, if it really was a bad thing I would've just deleted it. But, this does belong in the MKII section, not MKIII; they're obviously wired differently, bypassed differently and they're in different locations (The MKIII's is above the steering column and a tny bit of rewire is needed).

I'm moving this to its own thread in the MKII section.

EDIT:
I looked up a wiring diagram. WOW, that really is a somewhat pointless system... Rip the box out or cut the wires and that's it... not even a starter cut-out...

Here's an online link for an '86.
