1985 wiring help
I am looking for help from the Supra wiring experts. I have transplanted a 5M engine into a '67 Jag and now need to wire it. I have considerable experience in wiring street rods, ect with EFI kits and aftermarket body kits. I want to make the factory Supra EFI part of the harness to stand alone with an aftermarket body wire harness. I stripped the complete harness out of the '85 Supra, have a good factory wiring book, and removing just the EFI part of the harness looks very do-able. If you've ever seen the complete harness from a supra laying on the ground, you would understand why I want to do this. Has anyone ever removed just the EFI/driveablity harness out of the whole harness? How do people do it when they transpant the supra engine into a different body? ANy advise/suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you |

I don't know that you're going to find a lot of people who will type out precisely which wires you keep and which you discard. If you're experienced with swaps and EFI systems this should be relatively simple.
I'm not sure where to find a '85 wiring diagram and there are differences between '85 and earlier, and '86 and later... I do not know how extensive those changes are but anyway, you'll find the wiring diagram for '86+ in the service manual located here: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK2/

I have an '85 factory supra wiring manual and I think have marked all the wires needed to be a stand alone EFI system. The factory harness is spread out on my floor waiting for me to start. I was just wondering if there is anyone here who has attempted it before with some advise as to what works and what doesn't. Once I start in theres no putting it back. I have installed aftermarket EFI and body harnesses but have never removed the EFI portion out of a complete factory harness. Am I better off transplanting the whole harness or is this not that difficult? Doesn't appear to be. I've read about 5m into pickup swaps and was hoping for a little advise/suggestion as to how they did it. Anyone????
