BVSV for MK II (1986 Supra)
I just broke mine.
It this something I truely need for the car. I bypass it. If I do need it, where do I find one? Thank you. |
While Toyota's pricing on the device reflects an AMAZING amount of pride they hold for it it really is a simple and common device. Hit a local salvage yard and check under the hood of any pre-1990 Toyota (Celicas and Camrys should be quite easy to find and plunder) and grab a couple for a total of $5. They should all be the same size, but take yours to compare while you're there. When you get them home connect a small piece of hose and try to blow through... it shouldn't. Put it in some boiling water for a minute and try to blow through again... should blow through fine. Naturally take the tube off before heating the BVSV so you don't burn your lips.... can't believe I feel I need to add that disclaimer. :p
I wouldn't just open it to the intake outright and I definitely recommend against blocking it off. There are other ways of controlling it but they involve more effort than you really need to put into it. |
lol!
:bigthumb: agreed. not worth the money toyota wants for it. think i had a camry one on mine. auto wreckers and salvage yards for the win. |
The only ones I found were broken of tips.
Does anyone have tried or successfull repair one of these.
Please respond. My car is acting up when I start it. |
I read some place the you can repair your own BVSV
I got some aluminum tube like female thread fasteners. Perfect size for the hoses. I am going to cut them and JB weld them to my BVSV.
It is worth the try. I will let you know the success or failure in a couple of days. |
its probly not worth the work to be honest.
i think i got mine for under 5$ at the local salvage yard. jb weld cost more... |
