have u thought about using a 22r block with a 20r head to raise the compresion ratio? just a thought

if you're going to supercharge it don't increase the combustion ratio too much or you will blow the head off the top of the block. I watched a guy do that with a massive charge of nitrous. he litterally blew the head off the block, the timing chain is the only reason it didn't go through the hood. personally I would go with a 2.7l taco motor instead of the 22-r engine. it has a better torque curve and has a toyota supercharger available. whats nice is a lot of the rock crawling guys have built a stand alone harness for the 2.7 all you need is the ecm and the engine, they will supply everything in between. hope that helps. B.T.W as soon as I build the funding back up I'm going to put a 2.7 in my 1985 4-runner so if you need any of the links for the wiring harness just let me know an I'll hunt em for ya.
