7mgte ecu
I received a ecu from a friend out of an automatic supra for free but the car I am doing the engine swap in is a manual. Will this ecu work or do I need to get one that is intended for a manual car. I am guessing it wont work but I am wondering because i got it for free and it would be great to have one less thing to get.

well... i dont kow about the mk3 motor... but back on the day... when i do a auto/manual tranny swap on my mk2... i got the 5speed ecu too... but i dont know that the ecu is toasted..... so i cant get start n run.... so i try to use the auto ecu on my mk2 yeah it work's too... but its not a good start or pick up tho... cause when you first gear it slow like you were start from 3rd gear.... so its hella slow down.... so everybody behind me start hornky on me... so i recomand you to get the 5speed instead of the auto. if you running a 5speed tranny....

the automatic ecu wont work with the manual trans. you have to use a manual ecu.

This may not be the right thread, but I'm trying to figure out whether I have an ECU or wiring harness problem. She's running rich, the digital dash keeps switching from imperial to metric, the gas gauge will register empty when I just filled the tank and now my speedo goes blank. Anybody have any of these problems? Is this common? Will this be the thing that kills my car?

This is kind of an old thread, but yes, the auto ECU will work in the manual car. And sorry 82Dragon, I have no clue. I've never worked with a digidash before. It does sound like a loose wire somewhere though.

I dont think so bro i know the manual ecu has a extra chip in it.

Extra chip for?

Thanks. Actually, that does help alot. Do you think it would be possible for me to switch out the digi and go analog?
