oil leak
I have an oil leak just behind my timing belt cover, its a pretty steady drip, but only leaks while the car is running or just after i shut it off. Im losing a good quart a day, I was thinking it was a blown Head Gasket. Any opinions?

Its not the head gasket..They are pretty notorious for this problem..If you remove the timing belt cover and set the cams to top dead center(line up marks on gears with notches in the top of the back plate)and then loosen the cam gears and the tensioner..Remove the belt from the cam gears and then the gears..There will be 3 bolts and 2 nuts to remove and the back of the timing plate comes off..There is a gasket just like the pic below..You cant just buy that gasket buy itself you have to get the whole set(not worth it)..So just get yourself a cereal box and cut yourself a new one...Coat it with the copper gasket spray and reinstall every thing...The cam gears get retorqued to 51ftlbs and the idler pully gets torqued to 39ftlbs ..All other bolts should not exceed 18ftlbs..If this does not fix the problem then replace the upper and lower cam tower gaskets..

good news, no blown gaskets. the cam seal had slipped out alittle ways and was rubbing on the back of the timing gears. replaced the seal put my belt back on, ran it down the road a few times, no more leak.
one question though, as i was pulling my timing belt off, one of the gears had the lip on the inside, and the other had the lip on the outside, is this how it should be, or did the genius who had the car before me, put it on backwards?

Yes it is suposed to be like that..They do that to keep it centered on the gears so it dont roll off and chew up the belt or slip off completely..Glad to here it was something simple..
