Missing at idle

I definetley have a a blown head gasket. I guess I am just going to buy an SCE titan. Also, before the head gasket blew I was having a real bad miss from idle to about 2500 rpm then it smoothed out. I have change the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, played with fuel pressure, tried to adjust timing a little. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a mysterious miss and what it was when they figured it out. Thanks

I don't know much!

If you would mosey on over to the MKIII section...you'll see that we have a couple people with this problem as well. Now you seem to have done everything that most people do to fix the problem...however there is one other thing that seems to be missing in your troubleshooting.

I woud check your air intake...all of it! Make sure you are getting proper air. Also you can go to a shop, and get them to check it out, get a second, third...maybe even a fourth opinion. With something like that, it could cost you $0.50 in tubing, or it could cost you the price of new cams?? (Timing would give a sputter, but shouldn't really smooth out over 2,500...but meh!)

I personally own an MKIII Turbo...well two of them, one auto, one 5spd....you can PM me with any questions you might have...I have a good general sense on things, but regretably a small amount of hands on time.

you could have a lobe flatning on your cams, you can have a weak valve spring or two, but from my experiance and I could be wrong but, it sounds like you have a burnt valve. if your replacing the head gasket I would get that checked out

run a compression test it will give you alot of info about your engine

if i'm you.... i will check on the fuel injecter... where the wired connect to the injecter... cause some old skool car like that might use the pin in the connect on the injecter... so you need to unplug the wired from the injecter and double check the connection...

cause thats what i use to had on my piston one.... especially when you first step on the gas and it goes from certain mph or certain limit and the car start accel. good.... so my friend told me to check n i did check n thats the prolem i found out...

but what about right now.. did you get your blow head gasket fix it yeah... let us know before i telling you more detail alright.
