one more thing
does anyone know if the ecu needs to be reconfigured if i slapped on a turbo?

the ecu should be able to handle it just the way it is. the uprgraded rrfpr (rising rate fuel pressure regulator) should be enough to get it to run right. if you want to get more boost than 9 psi you would want to look into a super air fuel controller (safc) or the possibility of swapping in a 7mgte.

save more money do the 7mgte swap ive gone down that 5m road.im a driveabilty guy.the 7m setup runs so much nicer.7m ecu designed to run a turbo charged engine. im 1jz powered now.words cannot describe how wild it is.well maybe not as wild as a bunch aisan hookers! lol

what were your costs compared to the 5m beefy set up compared to the 7m swap? anyone that has done the swap?

you know what
well my brain is pretty much fried from going back and forth on whether i should go turbo or not. since most people have done the 7m-gte swap and choose that over the 5m-gte conversion, i'll just save my money to do that. for now, just restoring the body and the car itself as my tag line says.

just b prepared to spend 3-5k on a 7mgte swap. you can say im full of it but i wanted to do a low budget swap myself. like spend 2 grand but all the little stuff adds up fast. celicasupra.com will deff help. 5mgte's are cool and pretty rare but take some time to dial them in right. 7mgte swaps take just as much time and brain power. good luck
