Default starter problem

i am working on friends newly acquired 83 supra. the previous owner had a wire going from pos. batt. post to momentary switch (on dash inside car) to starter solenoid. if you turn ignition switch there is a quiet click butt no start. if switch is turned and button pressed car starts. any ideas? bad ignition switch? previous owner said to have had starter out and tested fine. previous owner no longer availible for ques.
awesome web site thanks for any and all help. shane

yep bad ignition switch... thats why they do a easy money on it...

do a direct connected to it...

i got an mkiii from my nephew... and it got that too.... but it wasnt the ignition... its that one wired that coming from the dashboard to the starter... the one that you can unplug and plug it on...

it got cut and the owner before my nephew got the car... he cut and do a direct conect to the ignition key switch...

and when i got it... i try to install the car alarm with the remotre starter.. and i found that out... and i cut the crap of the old one and fix the prolem.. and now i'm ok with it..

sorry for the info... its kind of miss up... due to my bad grammer... so please... forgive me...
