Engine Problem
I just got my 83 MK II. The car had been sitting for the last 5 yrs. Car wont start right away, and when it does, it sturggles to stay on. There is a noticible smell of gas coming from the engine, (From my pumping of the gas pedal). I have driven the car around my block, but it will not go verry fast (about 10 mph), no matter how much gas I give it, or in whatever gear it is in. I already replaced the exhaust system, and I also checked the oxygen sensor at the air filter, I have also ruled out the tps. I was told that the fuel injectors might be clogged but I am not sure. Would really appreciate some info, thanx.

Gas tank likely is full of crap, plugging up the pickup.

yea if the cars been sittin for 5 years the gas is most likely crap try gettin some fuel injector cleaner and runnin that through it or you may just want to clean the gas tank out completely before you do that take it off drain it get a box of bbs and put some new gas in there and put the bbs in and swirl it around and you may want to check the fuel pump and replace the fuel filter.
