there are already a number of usdm body difference threads, this thread in particular pertains to JDM

I have created a site dedicated to the jdm body differences here

Yes 86.5 & earlier were known as the celica supra or just plain old celica but theres no need to be rude about it ;)

Hey Dude...I did my homework 'real time' because in 1986 I was alive, had a drivers license and money, and wanted that 86.5 when it first came out. The 1986.5 Supra WAS THE FIRST MK3 model in California USA. I don't care to waste my time to see if they still sold the Celica style in 86.5 too...(probably did) you can do that homework because I don't care.

After looking at several other sports cars while driving a Fiat in 1986 I decided the Supra was for me. I bought my one and only that I still have today in Nov. 1987 (1988 model).

If you found information that says 1986.5 was NOT the first MK3 model...it is wrong. Don't believe everything you read...especially on the internet. Learn to do proper homework.

You can still get all the original parts through your Totota dealer...at least everything I have tried to get.

This is typical to delete features when the manufacture opts for new features, such as the new front bumper and rear spoiler to name a few. I believe they did that to reduce the manufactures cost. I had a '90 Mustang GT and the center arm rest was deleted due to the addition of the airbag.

hmm interesting, I have two mk3's both CADM. One's an '87 and the others a '88 but neither have heated seats. Although one came with a blockheater. I noticed I don't have a seatbelt holder, although it may be busted off on both of them being 20 years old. But I have the headlight washers on both of them so that would confirm your theory of 86.5-88 coming with them stock.

Oh and nice cars btw haha, can't wait till mines done. But you have quite the collection in your family.
