It depends on what your doing with the car. I currently have 235/45 on 17" rims.
Rubber is Exocet. (got a deal on wheels and tires) They are OK for daily driving all wheather stuff. I have the Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Subaru and they seem nice but I'll take them off for the winter. (I live in the mountains with snow and ice) They would probably be a good summer daily driver tire on the Supra too. For the Supra, after having it on track at Willow Springs, I will go to 245/40/17 front and 245/40/18 on rear and run Toyo RA1. These are almost a race tire but DOT. |

I don't know about the wheels but depending on what you do to the car consider the following;
I run 235/45/17 on all four. My car is lowered with TEIN flex and even running max stiff damper with semi-stiff pre-load I still bottom out in the front wheel wells under heavy breaking/cornering. My conclusion (so far and may not be correct) is to run 245/40/17 front (lower profile, a little wider, but not 18") more rubber on the road but lower profile to help eliminate wheel well rub. I will go 245/40/18 in back as there is more room in rear wells and I hope to get a little more needed grip back there. May even go up to a 255 width in back. If you don't lower your car, don't race or drive hard maybe 18" in front will be fine. |

well i lowered my car with intrax and tokico hp shocks i am not racing on the track just occasional street race with cocky pricks. so i think i should be fine. my friend has 18's on his 88 rx-7 and i have seen 19's on the mkiii before so it should be fine.

It is not for sale but if you have one already I suggest going through it to make sure it's all good. Fix what's not keeping things as stock as possible. Then once it's sound, (no idea what it will cost to get to that point), I started mods with the suspension. TEIN Flex coilovers about $1,800.00. You'll notice once you lower it you may not want big ass huge bling wheels (those are mostly show for pimps) get something functional...probably 17"/245 front, 18"/245 or 255 rear MAXIMUM. I'm going to look into more HP next with simple external mods like intake and exhaust. Probably another $2,000.00 for about 40 to 50 more HP. Don't be fooled by the bad ass load mufflers. If you don't have big straight air coming in, big air going out is only load, not faster. (sometimes slower) Take your time, do your research, save your money, and do it right. Respect your ride and have fun. Cars that look slow but go fast are better than the opposite. Also, you MUST try and race or drive on track. If you can't in your car, do some go-kart racing. There are lots of good arrive and drive programs around the country. That will put your mind and heart in the right place. Last edited by Spudboy; 09-26-2006 at 11:00 PM. |
