I understand
I see, I do want at least an 8" wide rim, and you're saying that +35 +40 is a good setup, I just want something that is right for sure before I spend the big money, there's no supras around i'm in redneckville idaho, so I don't have much to go off of. Also being in small rural redneck towns, the only wheel and tire dealers are small time and don't have much of an idea, they just work on lifted pickups, they haven't ever had to put a lowering kit on a car for instance, so I need your guys' help I will torque my own wheels b/c these idiots don't have a clue.

Did a little bit of quick research, and it looks like that a common offset for 8" wide wheels is +30, which should keep that wheel tucked in pretty nice under the car without hardly any sticking out. 7" and 7.5" range between +35 and +40

I just got an MK3 and want to put some new wheels on it.
Will 19's fit comfortably without any rub or sticking out too much? The tires would be 225/35/19. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks! |

A lot depends on what you do or plan on doing with your car.
AND Do you have stock suspension with stock ride height? If you're still stock suspension and height those wheels and tires should fit. If you're lowered at all I would not do it. I run 17" 235/45's all around with TEIN flex coilovers lowered as much as I can. No problem with the width but I do bottom out on my front fenders under hard bracking into a corner on a road course. I could actually go a little wider and maybe 18" in the back. The big wheel with very low profile fad is just that...a fad. But not usually the best performance, and ride comfort sucks. Real performance tires have more sidewall to give the tire better strength under lateral g's. But, if you just want to look cool and cruise around that 19" stuff should work. The width at least is fine and my guess with stock factory set-up height should be OK too. Go to this link (or others) to punch in tire size numbers and compare. SO I ended up getting 225/45/16 Konig Traffik wheels all the way around.
Is there anyway to change the speedometer so it reads correctly? |

I believe those tires are the about the stock size so your speedo should still be good. FYI - In the future if you ever go bigger...some of those web sites for tire size calculators can tell you speedometer differences to expect. Unless you jack your car up and make it a 4 x 4 with huge tires the speedometer wont change much. (Keep in mind when people go bigger wheels they also go lower profile rubber so actual tire rubber outside diameter doesn't change that dramatically) |
