spun bearing

Hey fellas, a couple of questions on spun bearings. One of my buddies owns an 87 Supra 7MGTE. Couple weeks ago his engine seized and he diagnosed the problem to be a spun bearing from a ruptured oil line. Hes selling the car now and Im considering taking it off his hands. The problem is I really dont know the extent of the damage to the internals nor does he. What parts commonly go bad in spun bearing cases? I read a couple of threads and some mention that crankshafts and rods are commonly warped beyond repair. Should this be the case, is the bottom end worth rebuilding or should I be thinking about possibly throwing in another 7M instead? He has it listed on craiglists, other than the motor the car is fine, I actually got to see the car when it was running and happen to see it run as well. It ran good up until this point. What are your thoughts, what would you do?

well it depends on how much he is asking for? that would be my first thought before anything else

If its seized expect alot of damage. Might be better to buy a new bottom end and rebuild off of it. I'd tear it down and look first though. $1800 at the most imo. Yes I looked at the ad. It will take 2-4,000 to rebuild depending on how much you can do on your own and how well you rebuild it.

He's asking $2500, which, lilke kwnate implied. is too much, I'd probably offer $1200-$1500

So its definitely not going to be easy nor cheap to get this thing up and running again. Its looks like perhaps buying a JDM 7M or just going 1JZ is a better option considering its going to cost 2-4K(Performance parts or OEM quality?) to rebuild any damaged components found on that cars bottom end. How do you feel about that approach? I imagine you'd probably just tear this motor apart and throw in some beefy race ready parts and pump out another 800 horses like that blue beast of yours; However, for someone who is still learning about these cars mechanically, would you recommend I just buy another motor or really work with this one, get some help with it, and just go all out on it?? Thanks for your thoughts man
