How far can you push a 7MGE on turbo?
I tried doing a search and the results i have come across have not really satisfied the questions I have and was hoping sone of you guys can enlighten me, or steer me in the right direction on where I can find some info.
I have a friend with a 87 Supra NA 7MGE, in which he bought a turbo & intercooler kit for it. He told me he had a T4 on some "Godspeed" header, but the turbo took a crap on him and he bought a bigger turbo that isnt going to work out for him. I'm trying to map another T4 out for him so that he can get his car back together because I am going to be tuning it for him. Some of the things i'm trying to find out are: How far a stock NA 7MGE can be pushed with a turbo kit bolted on, ie:boost levels (and i know that depends on what turbo we get) I was thinking that he might have the upgrade to a high pressure fuel pump and get a stock Fuel pressure regulator from a stock 7MGTE or an aftermarket AFPR, and also looking for a ECU from a 7MGTE? What are some opinions on this. He wants to stick with this motor for now, and he does not really want to upgrade anything else major. I think he said something about having ASC to tune it, but I dont know anything about that yet. A little bit of help or direction would be great! Thanks, Bob |

I say a video of someone that didnt a turbo convsersion and he said he was boosting 9.5psi on a stock ct-26, i really probly would boost more then 6psi if the turbo is an upgraded turbo... Also were did you find a na turbo conversion kit or did you buy a turbo upgrade kit for the 7mgte motor and does it work with the stuff that came with the upgrade kit?

what size injectors are in the 7MGE & 7MGTE, i couldnt find that in the shop manual's I have... obviously thats pretty important
as for the compression, is the only difference the pistons that they used for the different compression ratios? I was wondering if they had difference in the combustion chamber of the head as well, but maybe not... I'm going to try talking the kid into getting a 7MGTE to swap in... Or I guess i'm going to do some searching on the best ways to lower the compression in these engines... |

The 7M-GE has 330 injectors I think, but the stock 7M-GTE injectors are 440s.
I'm pretty sure both the GE and GTE are the same excluding turbo oil retern and feed and compression ratio. To lower compression a small amount you can get a thick metal head gasket.

I'm not sure, but If you know the dimensions I could tell you, I have a CT-26 sitting near me.
The flange on the CT-26 is ~4 1/8 X ~3 3/4, hope that helps, I think its a t4.
