88 Turbo Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets
Help, I have replaced the valve cover gaskets 7 times on my 88 turbo supra. The PCV system is not clogged and the oil drain is not clogged. But it is still seeping oil from the corners over the Cam Seals even after using Toyota special sealant. Are there any special procedures for repairing the valve cover gasket I am not aware of? For example special torque?, sequence?, Can you over tighten? This Leak will not go away!!! Can anyone help?

As far as the valve covers, the torque spec is 22 inch pounds, which is very VERY light and even with a decent torque wrench will be sketchy. Tighten starting from the center bolts and work in a criss cross pattern.
If the oil in the spark plugs sticky doesn't repair the problem, then it sounds like one or both of your valve covers might be cracked from overtorquing. |
